The curriculum encompasses:
- Introduction to Language
— pre-writing, writing, pre-reading, reading using readers with simple phonetic words and building up to words using phonograms (eg. 'oo’ sounds or ‘ch’ sounds)
- Introduction to Mathematics
— pre-numeral, recognition of numerals, Sums (ie. addition, subtraction, multiplication, division); geometric shapes including the correct names for solid shapes (eg. Cube, prism, sphere etc.)
- Geography
— puzzles of maps of Australia, the World; Familiarisation with the Globe and the Land/Water Globe; Land form geographical cards showing land mass/bodies of water (eg. Island/Lake; Cape/Bay; etc)
- Botany
— puzzles of flowers/trees to learn correct names of plants/trees (eg. Tree trunk, branch, leaves, stem, petal etc; collecting different types of leaves for study and craft)
- Grace and Courtesy
— the children learn to respect their environment, the equipment they use and each other. Favourite games of the children include the Silence Game and the ‘Walking the Line’ game (walking in a straight line with a bean bag on top of their heads to encourage good deportment).
- Practical Life
— washing own bowls/cups; sweeping; tying shoelaces etc
- Sensorial Activities
— touch, smell, sight, hearing, taste
- Arts and Crafts
— cutting, gluing, etc.
- Outdoor Activities
— swings, games, obstacle courses, ball games, bicycles
